Government Boys Higher Secondary School

This is the government school for boys over in Viralimalai. If you are from the Pudukkottai area, you probably already know where we are located. It is a large campus, mostly because we have to fit a lot of students coming in from the nearby towns and rural spots. The buildings are old and have that typical style you see in government offices, with high ceilings and thick stone walls. It stays relatively cool inside even when the sun is beating down hard outside. We have a big open ground where the boys play football or cricket when they are not in their classes. It is not the quietest place, especially when the bell rings for a change of period and everyone moves around at once. We have a dedicated group of teachers who come in every day, some of them traveling quite a distance by bus to get here. The facilities are basic. We have a library with some older books and a science lab that gets used a lot for the required practicals. Since it is a boys' school, it can get a bit rowdy at times, but the staff knows how to keep a handle on things. We focus a lot on the higher secondary exams because those are important for the boys' futures after they leave us. There is always someone running around or a teacher calling for quiet in the hallways. It is just a busy, functional place.
