Paramjeet Singh G. Stores sits right on Leader Road in the Shahganj area of Allahabad. If you know this part of town, you know it’s always crowded and there’s always something going on outside. The shop is full of all kinds of stuff packed into every corner. We have snacks, soap, and all the regular household things people forget to buy until they run out. I spend most of my day sitting by the entrance watching the traffic go by. Sometimes the bikes park too close to the door and I have to ask them to move so people can get inside. It’s not a big corporate place, just a regular shop where the floor might need a sweep more often than I get around to it. We keep the lights on until late because people are always walking back from work. The shelves are wooden and a bit old now, but they hold everything up just fine. You’ll see sacks of grains near the back and smaller items up front where it’s easier to grab them. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we mostly just wait for the evening breeze. Neighbors stop by to ask about each other's families while they wait for their change. We don't have a website or anything like that, we just open the shutter every morning and see what the day brings. That’s how we’ve always done it here in Shahganj.
