Vishnu Priya Electricals is on the Ajhara Guisar Nath Road in Lalganj. The shop is full of electrical supplies like coils of wire, switches, and different types of light bulbs. We have ceiling fans boxed up and stacked in high columns near the back wall. It can be a bit tricky to navigate the aisles without bumping into a roll of conduit pipe. Most of the people who come in are local electricians looking for specific parts for jobs they are doing in the village houses. We have a big board where we test bulbs and tubes to make sure they work before the customer takes them home. The counter is made of heavy wood and has many scratches from years of sliding metal boxes across it. I keep a calculator and a pen behind my ear because there is always a lot of adding up to do. The shop gets a bit dark in the corners, so we have to keep several lights on even during the day. Sometimes people come in asking for help with a broken iron or a mixer grinder that has stopped working. We keep small bins of screws, nuts, and bolts under the counter. The road outside is often muddy during the rainy season, so we have to keep a mop handy to clean the floor. It is a straightforward business where we focus on having the right parts that people need for their homes and farms.
