Kuwar Bricks

Kuwar Bricks is out in Village and Post Office Khakhapur. We are pretty close to the Phulpur Road, which makes it easier for the trucks to come and go. In this part of the Tehsil, specifically the Gaura Block, everyone knows each other. Making bricks is honest work but it sure is dirty. You get red dust on everything you own. We spend our days watching the weather because rain is the enemy when you have bricks out to dry. If a storm comes unexpectedly, everyone has to run out and cover things up. It’s a lot of physical labor and we have a small crew that has been with us for a long time. The office is just a small room where we keep the ledgers. We don't have fancy computers or anything like that, just old-fashioned notebooks. Sometimes people from the village stop by just to chat or ask about a load for their new house. The Phulpur road gets busy with tractors and motorcycles all day. We start early in the morning before the sun gets too hot to handle. By the afternoon, it’s usually boiling out in the yard. We just keep making the bricks and loading them up when they are ready. It’s a simple life out here in Khakhapur, and we are just trying to keep the kiln running and the orders filled as best as we can without too much fuss.
