If you are on Darbar Road in Chirala you can find us at 2-1-145. It is a busy street and our store is right in the middle of it. We have got all sorts of things on the shelves and it usually takes a bit of looking to find exactly what you want because we keep adding more stuff. The store has been here for years and the wooden counters are smooth from all the hands that have leaned on them. We know most of our customers by name. They stop in not just to buy things but to chat for a minute or two about the weather. It is a bit cramped inside especially when we get a delivery and there are boxes everywhere. We do not have an automatic system for everything. We still use a lot of handwritten notes and mental math. That is just the way we have always done it. Chirala is a nice place and Darbar Road is where everything happens. We open the shutters early and do not close them until late. We have a small stool behind the counter that has seen better days but it is the only place to sit when the store gets quiet. The overhead lights flicker occasionally and we have to give the switch a little tap. Darbar Road is always dusty so we spend a good part of the morning cleaning off the jars. It is a local business in every sense of the word.
