Our branch of Franch Express is located at No 4/1 Mandaveli Street in the Porur area. If you’ve ever had to send a parcel, you probably know exactly how it looks inside our shop. We have piles of envelopes, plastic pouches, and cardboard boxes waiting to be sorted and sent out to different cities. It’s a busy little spot, especially in the late evenings when the big vans come to pick up everything we've collected during the day. We spend our time weighing packages on the scale, sticking yellow labels on them, and typing the addresses into our computer system. Sometimes the handwriting on the packages is really hard to read, so we have to call the customers to double-check the names. It’s a lot of standing up and moving things around from the counter to the sorting bins. The floor is usually covered in bits of packing tape and paper scraps by the time we close up. Mandaveli Street can be quite narrow and crowded, so when the delivery trucks arrive, things get a bit cramped on the road outside. We don’t have a fancy waiting area or chairs, just a wooden counter where people hand over their items. It’s a simple process and we try to keep the line moving so nobody has to wait too long in the heat. It’s a regular neighborhood courier shop where the work is repetitive but it gets the mail delivered.
