L&T Ship Building Ltd

If you head out to the Kattupalli International Container Terminal, you’ll find where we work at L&T Ship Building Ltd. We are based right at the L&T Kattupalli Port in Kattupalli Village, which is part of Ponneri Taluk in the Tiruvallur District. It’s a long way out from the main city, and you definitely feel the sea breeze as soon as you get close. The whole place is massive. You see these huge ships and containers everywhere, and the scale of it all is quite something. Our daily life involves a lot of steel, welding, and being outdoors near the water. It’s a loud environment with cranes moving and metal hitting metal. It isn't a place for someone who likes to stay clean and dry all day. We are shipbuilders, so our work is heavy and requires a lot of patience. The weather out here in Tiruvallur can be pretty harsh, either very hot or quite windy because of the coast. We don't have much time for corporate talk or polished presentations. We are usually too busy looking at hulls or checking engine rooms. The village nearby is quiet, but the port never really sleeps. We just keep our heads down and focus on the ships. It is a specialized kind of life, living by the port and working on these giants of the sea every day.
