Veterinary College

Being here at the Veterinary College in Pondicherry, specifically the Ragacovas campus, feels different depending on the season. The air has that coastal humidity that you get used to after a while. We spend a lot of time dealing with whatever animals come through the gate. It isn't always clean work, and the smell of the clinic is just part of the day. The campus is tucked away in the 605009 pin code area. Sometimes the locals bring in their livestock, and other times it's just the usual office work that needs finishing. We aren't trying to be the most modern place on earth, but we have the space we need. The staff mostly keeps to themselves, getting through the rounds and the paperwork. You see people in lab coats walking across the grounds, usually in a hurry. It’s a practical place. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or big speeches. If you come by, you’ll likely see some students sitting under the trees or a tractor parked somewhere it probably shouldn't be. It's just a regular college where the focus is on the animals and the learning. Pondicherry is a nice backdrop for it all, even when it’s too hot to move. We just keep the gates open and do the job that needs doing every day, year after year, without much change in our daily habits or the way we run the place.
