Thondamanatham Village is a quiet spot, which is a nice change if you’re coming from the busier parts of the Villanur Commune. Remy Electricals India Ltd. has been set up here for a long time now. The factory doesn't look like much from the road, just a big gate and some sheds. Inside, it’s a bit more organized because we have to be careful with all the electrical parts. We have a lot of long tables where the assembly happens. It’s not the most modern facility, but the equipment is reliable and we know how to use it. The commute can be a bit of a pain during the monsoon when the village roads get muddy. We usually have a communal lunch where everyone sits together and talks about anything but work. It’s a tight-knit group of people. Some of the guys have been here since they were young. There isn't a big corporate office with glass walls. Our office is just a corner of the floor with a couple of metal filing cabinets and a desk that wobbles a little. We just focus on getting the orders ready for shipping. It’s a slow-paced life compared to the city, but we like it that way. There is something good about working in a village where you can see trees out the window instead of just more buildings. We just keep our heads down and do the daily work.
