PONDY INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS

You can find us at B-127 in the Pipdic Industrial Estate over in Mettupalayam. Puducherry is a nice place but this part is all about the work and the factories. We handle instrumentation and controls, which basically means a lot of gauges, sensors, and control panels. It’s a bit of a maze here on the 20th Cross but we like the location. The workshop is usually buzzing with the sound of tools and people testing different instruments. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk or decorations. The walls are mostly covered with charts and tool racks. Every morning we start by going through the list of what needs to be calibrated or shipped out. It’s a lot of small parts and delicate adjustments, so you have to be careful. Sometimes the humidity from the coast makes everything feel a bit sticky, but we’re used to it by now. We usually have a small break for coffee in the morning and then it’s back to the benches. Most of the people working here have been around for a long time so we know each other's habits. If a customer calls with a problem, we just try to figure out a fix without making a big deal out of it. It’s a simple operation and we prefer it that way. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with the instruments. It gets quiet in the evenings when the industrial estate starts to empty out.
