Our place is located at 32 Eagle Garden right on Nasiyanoor Road. It is a noisy spot because of all the traffic going past, but we have gotten used to it over the years. Inside the mill, it is even louder with the machines running most of the day. There is always a bit of dust in the air from the grain, and it gets on your clothes no matter how careful you try to be. We start our shift early in the morning when the trucks arrive to drop off the raw materials. It is a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the machinery does not get jammed up. We do not have a fancy office or a lobby for visitors. Most of the space is just taken up by the equipment and the bags waiting to be filled. The lighting is a bit dim in some corners, but we know where everything is by heart now. We eat our lunch together in a small corner near the back exit where it is a bit quieter. Sometimes the heat from the machines makes the whole building feel stuffy, so we leave the big doors open to get a breeze. We are just regular people working hard to keep the mill going day after day. There is nothing special about the way we work, we just show up and do what needs to be done until the sun goes down.
