If you head out to Kongalnagaram, you’ll eventually find us at Chola Nallur Orgo Farms & Exports. It’s a quiet place compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. We spend the majority of our time out in the fields, working with the soil and checking on the growth of whatever is in season. Since we do organic farming, we are always paying close attention to the plants. It’s a lot of manual work and our clothes usually show it by the end of the day. We also handle the export side of things, which means a lot of time spent in the packing area. We have to make sure everything is sorted and boxed up properly before the containers arrive. The office is just a small corner of the warehouse with a desk that’s usually buried under receipts and export permits. We don't have any polished sales pitches or fancy slogans. We are just farmers who learned how to ship our produce overseas. Sometimes the harvest isn't what we hoped for, or a shipment gets delayed at the port, and we just have to figure out a solution. It’s a practical, hands-on business. Most of the people working here are from around Kongalnagaram, so we all know each other well. It’s a community effort to keep the farm running and the exports moving out on time. We just take it one day at a time.
