Our office is over in Harchuiya, which is part of the Lalauri Khera block in Pilibhit. You can find us at Yogesh Chandra’s place if you ask around the village. We are a group of farmers who decided to come together as Vishnudeva Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited. It’s tough being a single farmer trying to sell organic crops and get a good price, so we thought joining up would make things a bit easier for everyone in our community. We don't have a big corporate headquarters with a sign out front. Most of our meetings happen sitting around outside in the shade or in the small office area we’ve set up in the house. Pilibhit is known for its greenery and forests, and we want to keep it that way by focusing on organic methods that don't hurt the ground. We spend a lot of time walking the fields and checking on how the crops are growing throughout the year. There’s a lot of paperwork involved with being a producer company, much more than we expected when we first started out. We aren't experts in business or marketing, but we know our land and our plants. Every day is a bit of a struggle to get the logistics and transport right, but having a central spot in Harchuiya helps us stay organized. The neighbors often drop in to see what we are doing or to join the group. It’s just a simple way of working together.
