The Mount School

You can find us on Chakmusa Road, right off the Patna Aurangabad Road in Phulwarisharif. It’s an area that is still developing in some ways, so there is often construction noise or trucks passing by. Our school is a big part of the neighborhood here. We started with just a few rooms and have slowly added more as more families moved into this part of Patna. It’s a bit of a commute for some of the staff, but we all make it here by the time the first bell rings. The playground is usually full of dust because of the local climate, but that doesn't stop the kids from playing football or running around. We don't have a lot of formal rules about how things should look, so the walls are often covered in student drawings and projects. It feels very lived-in. We have a lot of conversations with parents at the gate about how their kids are doing. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't have a big budget for fancy things, so we make do with what we have and focus on the teaching. Some days the power goes out and we have to open all the windows to catch a breeze, but we just keep going with the lesson anyway. It’s just how life is here in Phulwarisharif, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We are just a local school doing our thing and trying to make sure the kids have a place to learn.
