T G Bricks

You can find us on Bilalrali Street in Labbaikudikadu. It is a bit of a tight street, so when the big trucks come in to load up, things can get a little crowded for a while. We have been making bricks here for a long time. The yard is where we spend all our hours, out under the sun and the open sky. It’s usually quiet enough in Labbaikudikadu, though the sound of the bricks being moved around can carry quite a bit through the neighborhood. We have a small team of workers who have been with us through many different seasons. We spend the day stacking and loading, usually talking about what’s going on in the village or the local news. It’s a very simple operation we have here. We don’t have much in the way of big machines, just the basic tools and a lot of manual labor to get things finished. When it rains, the yard turns into a bit of a muddy mess, and we have to be extra careful about moving the heavy loads. That is just something you deal with when you work outdoors every day. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing materials. We just have our name on the gate and the stacks of bricks for everyone to see. Local builders know where we are and they just drop by when they need something for a job. It’s a lot of sweat, but it’s a living.
