Kachahari Road is never quiet. It’s the heart of the city, and Sanjeev English Teaching Centre sits right there in the middle of it all. We opened the doors a long time ago because people in Patna needed a place to learn the language. It isn't a big fancy building with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a simple place with some wooden benches and a big board at the front. You can always hear the rickshaws and the traffic outside while we are going through grammar rules. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a quick break to stretch. It is just how things are here in the 800001 area. We have piles of notebooks and pens that don't always work, and the students are mostly local guys and girls trying to get ahead. They sit on those benches and write until their hands get tired. It gets really hot in June, and the fans just move the warm air around, but nobody really complains much. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to teach. If you walk past the court area, you’ll find us easily enough. There is no big sign that lights up at night, just a simple painted one. We spend our mornings and evenings here. It’s a lot of repeating words and checking spelling. That is just the daily life at the centre.
