Ranjeet Kirana

Ranjeet Kirana is a local shop sitting on the corner of Thana Road in the B.H. Colony area of Patna. We are very close to the Agam Kuan Thana, so the police station is a good landmark if you’re looking for us. It’s a decent neighborhood, and we’ve been here serving the local residents for a good number of years. Our store is primarily a kirana shop, which means we focus on the essential cooking supplies like flour, lentils, spices, and cooking oil. We also keep some everyday household items like soap and detergent. The shop itself is quite small and can feel a bit packed with all the sacks of grain sitting on the floor. We don't have any fancy lighting or modern checkout systems. We just use a traditional scale and keep a ledger for the regular customers who pay at the end of the month. Being on a corner helps with the breeze a little, but it’s still Patna, so it gets dusty and warm during the day. We start our day early to get the fresh milk and bread in for the morning crowd. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy bags and rearranging the shelves, but it’s what we do. We aren't trying to compete with the big supermarkets. We just want to be the place where the neighbors feel comfortable coming for their daily needs. It’s a simple life and we enjoy it.
