We are based in Sadanichak, which is near Mittanchak and the Parsa Bazar area of Patna. Smt Ruby Kumari and her husband Manoj Kumar are the ones who run the daily operations here. We focus on making different spice products that people use for their daily cooking. Our workspace is quite small and it is always filled with the strong smell of ground chilies and coriander. It makes your nose tingle if you aren't used to it. We use some simple machines for the grinding and then we weigh everything out by hand. We aren't a big factory with automated lines. It is a very manual process because we want to keep an eye on everything that goes into the packets. Being in a place like Patna, the traffic is always a mess, so getting our supplies delivered can take much longer than it should. We don't have a team of people for advertising or anything like that. We just focus on making sure the spices are clean and fresh. Sometimes the electricity is a bit patchy, so we have to plan our work around the power cuts. It’s a bit of a struggle being a small producer, but we are proud of what we do. We just want to provide good ingredients for the kitchens in our neighborhood. We don't have any fancy mission statements. We just show up every morning, open the shutters, and get to work. It's a simple life and we are okay with that.
