Maa Kirana Store

Maa Kirana Store is located on Road No 1 in the Postal Park area of Patna. It’s a very residential neighborhood, so we mostly deal with the same families every day. I’ve lived in Patna my whole life and opening this store felt like the right thing to do. We keep things like flour, sugar, and different types of dal. It’s not a huge place, but we try to use the space well by stacking things up to the ceiling. You have to be careful when pulling a box down. My day starts around six in the morning when the milk arrives. I spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars and organizing the packets. Postal Park is a nice area, quite peaceful compared to the main market. We know almost everyone’s kids and we’ve watched them grow up while they come here to buy chocolates or pens. We don't use any fancy apps for our business, just a simple calculator and a smile. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a torch to find things for the customers, but no one seems to mind. It’s just a neighborhood kirana store where you can get your kitchen stuff and maybe have a quick chat about the weather. We don't have big ambitions, just staying open and serving the people on Road No 1 is enough for us. It keeps us busy.
