Deo House

Deo House is tucked away in the Nayatala area of Patna. If you walk down Bari Road, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s an old building and the stairs nearby are a bit narrow. Inside the shop, the air usually smells like a mix of different things because of what we sell. We have been in Patna for a long time and have seen the roads get much busier than they used to be. The shop isn't very big, so we have to use every bit of wall space for shelving. It gets a bit cramped when three or four people come in at once. We spend a lot of time dusting because the Bari Road traffic kicks up a lot of dirt. It is just a family thing, really. We take turns sitting at the desk. There is an old radio that stays on most of the day, mostly just for background noise. We don't have any fancy uniforms or anything corporate. I usually just wear my regular clothes and talk to whoever walks through the door. Sometimes people stay and chat for twenty minutes about the weather or the price of vegetables. It’s just how things go here. We try to keep the popular items within reach so we don't have to use the ladder too much. It’s a decent way to make a living and we like being part of the local scene here in Bihar.
