Conceptual Physics Centre

Our place, the Conceptual Physics Centre, is tucked away on the first floor of Sakuntalam Place. It’s on Boring Road in Patna, which is a street that never sleeps. We are in suite S 3, right near Jamuna Apartment. If you’ve ever tried to find a quiet corner on Boring Road, you know how hard it is. But once you come up the stairs to the first floor, the noise from the street fades out a little. This place is pretty much dedicated to physics. I spend a lot of time drawing diagrams on the boards and explaining how things work. There are no fancy decorations on the walls, just some old charts and a lot of dust from the chalk. We have rows of desks that get pretty crowded during the peak season before exams. It’s a practical environment. We aren't here to impress people with shiny furniture or slick presentations. The goal is just to get the physics concepts into the students' heads. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs quite a bit. It’s a small operation. Just a few of us making sure the classes happen on time. We’ve seen a lot of students pass through these doors over the years. Most of them come because their older siblings or friends used to come here. It’s just a steady, daily grind of teaching and learning in the middle of Patna.
