Buddha Institute Of Dental Sciences & Hospital

If you head west of the TV tower in Gandhinagar, you’ll find us tucked away here in Kankarbagh. The Buddha Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital isn't fancy, but it’s where we spend most of our daylight hours. Usually, the morning starts with the sound of shutters going up and the smell of tea from the stall just down the road. Our students are always running around in their white coats, often looking a bit tired from studying or long shifts in the dental wards. It’s a big place, and sometimes the hallways feel like a maze if you aren’t used to them. Patients start lining up early, sitting on the benches in the waiting area, talking quietly or looking at their phones. We have plenty of dental chairs, and you can always hear the hum of the drills and the clinking of metal tools being cleaned. Kankarbagh is a busy part of town, so there is always some noise from the street coming through the windows. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint in a few spots, and the paperwork sometimes piles up on the desks more than we’d like. We just focus on getting through the appointments and making sure the students learn what they need to. It’s a lot of practical work, day in and day out. When the sun goes down, things quiet down a bit, and we finally get a chance to tidy up the clinics before heading home ourselves.
