Amit Kirana

Living and working in Patna can be a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially around Meena Bazar in Sadikpur. I run Amit Kirana, and it is a small shop tucked into the busy streets of the Gulzarbagh area. If you know the 800007 neighborhood, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the carts and people moving about. My store is not very big, but I try to keep the shelves stocked with the things people in the community need every day. I have spent many years standing behind this counter, watching the kids grow up and the old folks move a bit slower. It is a real local spot where we talk about the price of rice or the latest rain while I weigh out goods. I do not have a website or a marketing plan. People just know me as Amit, the guy who runs the kirana store in Meena Bazar. The floor is made of old cement and the ceiling fan wobbles a bit when it is on high, but it keeps the air moving during those hot Patna afternoons. I do not use a computer for my accounts; I still use a thick ledger and a pencil that I keep behind my ear. It is a lot of work, and the hours are long from early morning until late at night, but it is what I know. We are just a small part of the big market here.
