Kashitakiya is a quiet enough spot compared to the main market. We are near the Model School in Bihar Sharif, so we get a lot of students coming by after their regular classes. Alpha Computer Centre isn't some high-tech glass lab. It’s just a room filled with the constant sound of cooling fans and clicking keyboards. We have a row of monitors that have been through a lot of use. Some of the keys on the keyboards are worn down because so many people have practiced their typing here over the years. The wiring is a bit of a mess under the tables, but it all works fine. We spend a lot of time showing people how to open files or fix their margins in a document. It’s all practical stuff for jobs. The room is a bit small, so it gets warm when all the machines are running at once. We usually have a window open to let some air in from the street. You can hear the kids playing outside the school. We don't have any big posters or fancy decorations on the walls. Just the computers and some chairs that aren't the most comfortable but they do the job. People come in with their pen drives and their questions. We stay until the last person finishes their work. It’s a simple way to spend the day, surrounded by the hum of the machines and the blue light from the screens.
