Cargill India is located at C-17 in the Focal Point area. It’s a large industrial zone where you see a lot of warehouses and factories. Our place is a big site; there’s always trucks lined up at the gates waiting to load or unload. It's a very practical environment. You wear a high-vis vest and safety shoes all day. The air smells like grain and dust depending on what’s moving through the facility. We aren't sitting in a fancy office; even the managers spend a lot of time out on the floor. We deal with a lot of agricultural products, and there’s a lot of heavy machinery involved. The noise is constant—the hum of conveyors and the sound of forklifts moving pallets around. We work in shifts, so the place never really sleeps. In the canteen we talk about the harvest or how the weather is affecting the shipments. It’s a big company, but our local unit feels like a community because we see the same faces every day. The winter mornings here are freezing, and we have to start the machines early to get them warmed up. It’s hard work, but it’s essential stuff. We don't have any fancy mission statements on the walls. We just focus on getting the trucks out on time and making sure the quality is right.
