Umalayam is where we’ve set up shop in Elanjimel, over in Chengannur. It’s a bit of a quieter spot compared to the big cities, which is honestly a nice change for most of us. Being in Kerala, we deal with the rain quite a bit, so there’s always an umbrella leaning against the door. The office is really just a functional space where we handle the local projects and keep track of the logistics. It’s a simple building, nothing too flashy, which suits us just fine. We have a small kitchen area where we make coffee and take short breaks when the humidity gets to be too much. The address at 689 511 is where everything happens for this branch. We don't really have a front desk or a receptionist; you just walk in and see whoever is around at their desk. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or coordinating with people on different sites across the region. Sometimes the local festivals make the roads a bit crowded, but otherwise, it's a peaceful place to get through the workweek. We try to keep things organized, but there are always piles of blueprints and folders that need sorting. It’s a very hands-on environment. Most of the people working here have been around the area for a long time, so we know the local ways of doing things. It’s just a honest day's work for us.
