Lilly Dental Clinic

Lilly Dental Clinic is actually part of Lilly House, located in Varicad within the Pathanamthitta district. It’s a bit different than being in a big shopping center. Being in a house makes it feel a lot more personal, though it can get a bit cramped when we have a full morning of patients. The garden outside gets quite green during the monsoon, and sometimes you can hear the rain hitting the roof while we are working on someone’s teeth. We have been in this area for a long time, so we know the local families well. Often, someone will bring in a bag of fruit from their tree when they come for a cleaning. It’s that kind of place. Inside, the dental chair is the main thing, and we keep all the tools neatly arranged on the side trays. The floor is tiled and easy to wash, which is good because people bring in a lot of mud on their shoes. We don't use any fancy computer systems for checking people in; we just have a notebook and a pen. It works fine for us. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or so, and we just have to wait it out with a torch or wait for the generator to kick in. It’s a quiet life here in Varicad, and we like being the place where the locals come to get their teeth sorted.
