Ss Krishnamurti

Our business is located right in the Gopiganj Market, which is in the Po- Kheput area of Daspur. It’s a traditional market setting, so things start very early in the morning when the trucks begin arriving. Ss Krishnamurti has been here for a long time, and we’ve seen the market change quite a bit over the years. My father used to work here, and now I’m the one opening the shutters every morning. The office is small and filled with old ledgers and stacks of paper because we still like to write things down by hand. It can get very dusty and loud with all the shouting and haggling going on outside in the market lanes. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit when it’s on high. During the monsoon, the roads around Daspur can get pretty muddy, making it a struggle to get the goods delivered on time. We usually spend our afternoons drinking tea and talking to the other shop owners nearby. It’s a close-knit community where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We don't have a website or anything like that; people just know where to find us in Gopiganj. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it’s worked for us for a long time. The work is steady, and as long as the market is busy, we are happy to be here doing our part.
