Prabhu Dayal Goyal

This is a small operation we run in Village Gopinath Pur. It is tucked away in the Post Andhariya area of West Medinipur. Being out in the district means we are surrounded by fields and quiet roads. Prabhu Dayal Goyal is just the name on the papers, but to the people around here, we are just the place near the main path. We deal with agricultural goods, mostly things grown right in these surrounding plots. My family has been in this village for a long time, so we know every corner of Gopinath Pur. The work is mostly seasonal. When the harvest comes, we are busy from sunrise until well after dark. Other times, it is a bit quieter and we spend the days fixing the fences or cleaning the storage areas. The building we work out of is basic, made of brick and tin, and it gets quite warm during the summer months. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy to bring people in. People just know we are here because they have been coming to us for years. It is a simple way of living, far from the noise of the big towns. We don't use much technology, just the scales and our hands. Every bag that goes out is something we have touched and moved ourselves. It is honest work and we are glad to be part of the community here.
