Nandi Stores

Nandi Stores is a small spot in the village of Sripur. We are under the Bikrampur post office and part of the Debra police station area in West Midnapore. Life here is much slower than in the big cities. Our store is where people from the village come to get what they need for their homes. We stock a bit of everything, from soap to cooking oil. The building is simple, and we live nearby, so we are always around if someone needs something. During the monsoon, the roads around Sripur get quite muddy, which makes getting supplies a bit of a challenge. We just wait for the trucks to make it through. The store has been here for years, and we know almost everyone who walks through the door. It’s not just a business; it’s where people stop to chat for a minute about the weather or the crops. We don’t have any computers or fancy displays. Everything is written down in notebooks. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to use lanterns or just close up early. It’s a quiet life in West Midnapore, and we are happy with our little corner in Sripur. We just keep the shelves filled and try to be helpful to our neighbors when they stop by. It’s a humble place, but it serves the village well enough, and that is what matters to us.
