Kali Mata Mill

Out here in Vill- Hatishal, specifically near Post- Jiakhali in the Panskura area, is where Kali Mata Mill sits. We’ve been part of this landscape for a good stretch of time. Being in Purba Midnapur means we get a lot of local stuff coming in to be milled. It’s mostly a lot of noise and dust from the processing, but that is part of the job. We have a few big rooms where the grains are stored before we get to them. The staff lives nearby, so they just walk or bike over in the mornings. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us and the machines. Sometimes the rain makes the roads a bit muddy, which slows things down, but we manage. People know us by name around these parts. We focus on getting the milling done right so the product is ready for the local shops. The building itself is older, but it does what it needs to do. There is always someone at the gate checking the weights. We keep a ledger of everything that goes in and out. It’s a quiet life except for the roar of the engines inside. We aren't doing anything fancy. Just a mill doing its work every day. That’s pretty much the whole story of this place. We keep the machines oiled and the floor swept when we have a minute to ourselves between the big deliveries.
