Goutam Roy

I am based out of Kharagpur in the West Midnapore district. It’s a town that most people know because of the big railway station or the institute, but for me, it’s just home. My setup here is quite modest. I don’t have a high-rise office or a glass storefront. I work from a small room that has enough space for my desk and a few shelves for all the records I have to keep. The weather here can be quite something, especially when the monsoon hits and everything in West Midnapore seems to turn green overnight. I usually start my day quite early before the sun gets too hot. There is a small tea stall just down the road where I go for a break, and that’s where most of the local news gets traded. My address doesn't have a fancy building name, just the town and the pin code 721305. People around here know each other, so if someone is looking for me, they just ask at the corner. I handle most of the tasks myself, from the filing to the actual work. It’s a bit of a slow pace compared to the big cities, but I find I get more done when I’m not stuck in traffic for hours. It’s a practical way to live and work, keeping things simple and honest without any unnecessary fluff. The ceiling fan makes a rhythmic clicking sound that I’ve grown quite fond of.
