H D Trader

H D Trader is set up in Tinali, right near the New Market area. Being so close to the market means we are right in the thick of things. There is always some kind of noise or someone shouting out prices nearby. Our shop is a practical space where we store and sell our goods. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that. It’s mostly just stacks of items and a small counter where I sit with my calculator. The roof is corrugated metal, so when it rains, it gets incredibly loud inside, and we have to raise our voices just to hear each other. We deal with a lot of different traders and suppliers throughout the week. It’s a lot of bargaining and making sure we get a fair price for the stuff we bring in. I usually get here before the market really wakes up to get a head start on the day’s work. There’s a lot of dust that blows in from the unpaved parts of the street, so cleaning is a never-ending task. We don’t use any complicated systems to run things. It’s all done by hand and kept in big folders on the shelf behind me. It’s a tough environment, but it’s where we belong. We just try to stay honest and keep the business moving along one day at a time without any big fuss.
