Kakkar Spinning Mills

We've been over here in Village Mehrana for quite a while now. Kakkar Spinning Mills isn't some giant factory you see in the movies, it’s just where we come every morning to get the machines running. Most of us living nearby walk or bike to the gates. There’s always dust in the air from the cotton, and the noise is something you just get used to after a week or so. My uncle started working here years back, and now I’m doing the same thing. We handle the threads and make sure the bobbins are moving right all day long. It gets really hot in the summer, especially when the power cuts happen, but we manage to get by. People in the village know us as the place that keeps the local guys busy. Sometimes the trucks get stuck on the narrow roads coming in, which is a big headache for everyone, but we eventually sort it out. We aren't trying to change the world or anything, just doing the spinning work that needs doing. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to wait for parts to come from the city, which slows things down quite a bit. But usually, it's just the steady hum of the mill from dawn till dusk. We drink a lot of tea while we keep an eye on the spindles. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here. If you come by, you’ll see the white fluff everywhere.
