Our little school sits at House No. 99 and 100 in Sector-C of Defence Colony. It’s a nice enough area in Ambala, though it can get a bit congested near the DAV College side of things. We’re basically in a residential house that’s been converted, so it has a very homey feel to it. It’s not like those giant school campuses you see in the movies. Here, the kids are mostly from the surrounding houses in the colony. You can hear them singing or playing from the street sometimes. Ambala Cantt is a busy place, but once you turn into our sector, things quiet down a little bit. We have these small chairs and colorful mats for the little ones to sit on. It’s a lot of work looking after toddlers, but we’ve got a routine down now. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. Most of the moms just talk to each other at the park and that’s how they find out about us. We spend our days teaching the alphabet and helping them with their snacks. The walls are covered in drawings that the kids made, some of them a bit messy, but they like seeing them up there. It’s a straightforward setup. We open the gates in the morning, say hello to the parents, and then it’s just a day full of noise and toys until it’s time for everyone to head back home.
