Kargi Masala Besan

Kargi Masala Besan is right on Plot No. 109, which is along the Barwala Highway. Being in Phase-I of the Industrial Area means it’s never really quiet around here. There are always trucks rumbling past on the highway and the sound of sirens since we are so near the police station. Our building is a plain concrete structure that gets quite dusty because of all the chickpea flour we process. If you walk inside, you will see yellow dust on almost everything, including our clothes and the windowsills. We spend our shift monitoring the grinders and making sure the besan comes out the right way. It is a lot of heavy lifting, moving big sacks from the delivery trucks into the storage area. We usually take our tea breaks standing near the entrance so we can get some fresh air away from the flour dust. The sun hits the front of the plot pretty hard in the afternoon, making it quite hot inside. We’ve got a small crew of people who have been working together for a long time now. We don't really do much besides the actual production work. Most of the day is just the hum of motors and the smell of toasted legumes. It’s not a glamorous place by any means, but it’s where we spend most of our waking hours. We just try to keep the machines running smooth so we can finish up and head home before the highway traffic gets too bad.
