Asian Agencies

Our shop is number 16-A in the Bhagat Singh Market on Railway Road. It’s a busy market area, so there’s always something happening outside the door. Asian Agencies has been sitting in this same spot for years. The shop is narrow and deep, so we have to stack things high on the shelves to fit everything in. Sometimes it’s a bit of a reach to get things down from the top, but we have a sturdy ladder. We aren't looking to be a giant chain. We’re just a local agency that supplies what the neighborhood needs. Being on Railway Road means we get a lot of foot traffic from people heading to or from the station. We see the same faces every day, which is nice. We have an old desk where we do all the billing by hand mostly. It’s not the fastest way, but it works for us and we don't lose the records that way. The lights flicker a bit when the heavy trains go by, but you get used to it after a week. We keep a pot of tea going in the back for the staff. We don't have any mission statements written on the walls. We just come in, open the shutters, and stay until it’s time to head home. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. That’s our daily routine.
