Down in Sarafa Bazar Gud Khand Katla, it stays loud. Ramsukh Piti is right in the middle of all that noise. The street is narrow so you have to watch out for the carts and motorcycles passing by. We start the day by pulling up the heavy metal shutters. The air inside smells a bit like old wood and whatever we have in stock. People come here looking for specific things for their homes or shops. We have been in this spot for years. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint but we never seem to find the time. We sit on the floor cushions mostly when talking to people who come in. There is a lot of paperwork that piles up on the small wooden desk in the corner. Sometimes the sun hits the entrance just right and makes it hard to see outside. We get a lot of regulars who know exactly where everything is kept. They don't even ask, they just point. We try to keep the stock moving. Dealing with the suppliers takes up a lot of the morning hours. Usually, we eat our lunch quickly behind the counter. Sarafa Bazar is always moving, even when it rains. The water drips off the awnings and makes puddles right at our doorstep. We just put some cardboard down and keep going. It is a busy life in Gud Khand Katla and we are just happy to be part of the market.
