Osia Steel Center

Being in Ranakpur Main Bazar means there is always something going on outside our door. At Osia Steel Center, we work with a lot of metal, and that makes for a noisy day. You can hear the sound of steel pipes and sheets being moved around and hitting the floor. It’s heavy work, and our hands are usually a bit dirty by the end of the shift. The shop is filled with all sorts of steel items, from small household things to larger pieces for construction or repair. We don't have much of a showroom; it's more like a storage space where everything is stacked up. The Main Bazar is narrow and it can be hard for vehicles to get in to pick up orders, so there is often a bit of shouting and maneuvering involved. We’ve lived in this area for a long time and know most of the other shopkeepers around here. Sometimes the heat in the bazar gets quite intense, especially with all the metal reflecting the sun, but we just keep the fans going. It’s a straightforward business. We sell the steel, we move the stock, and we keep the books. There aren't any big speeches or promises here, just a lot of metal and the daily grind of the market. We take breaks when we can, usually having tea while sitting on some of the sturdier crates.
