Medtiya Sweet Home

Being located at the Old Bus Stand near Rana Pratap Chouk 13 means there is never a quiet moment for us. Medtiya Sweet Home is right where all the travelers and local commuters pass through. We see people coming off the buses tired and looking for something to take back to their villages or just a quick snack while they wait for their next ride. The shop is usually a bit cramped because we have to keep so many trays of sweets ready. The noise from the bus horns and the conductors shouting is something we hear all day long. It’s a rough environment sometimes with the dust and the crowds, but it’s where we’ve always been. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls. We just focus on keeping the shelves stocked so nobody has to wait too long. Our days are long, starting before the first bus arrives and ending well after the sun goes down. We handle everything ourselves, from the heavy lifting of the milk cans to serving the customers at the front. It’s not an easy job, but it’s steady. Most people are in a hurry when they come here, so we’ve learned to work fast. We are just a regular shop at a busy junction trying to keep up with the pace of the bus stand and the heat of the ovens.
