Mathur General Store

Mathur General Store is located in Ward No.6 on Pali Darwaja Road. We are very easy to find because the Mohan Lal Choudhary Hospital is right there next to us. Because of the hospital, there is a constant stream of people walking past our door at all hours. Some are visiting patients, and others are staff from the hospital coming in for a quick snack or a drink. Ward No.6 is a busy part of the district, and Pali Darwaja Road is one of the main veins through it. Our shop is quite small, but we try to make use of every inch of space we have. The walls are lined with all sorts of household goods and daily necessities. It can get a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at the same time. The noise from the street is constant, with ambulances and rickshaws going by. We have a small bench outside where some of the regulars sit for a minute. The floor is made of old cement that has worn smooth over the years. Mathur General Store has been a fixture here for a long time, and we just keep doing what we do. We don't have a computer for billing or anything like that; we just use a paper ledger and a pen. It is a very traditional way of running things, but it works for the people in Ward No.6.
