Marwar Steels

The shop here at Sarafa Bazar Baisi Bazar 53 stays busy from the moment the shutters go up. We handle a lot of steel and iron stuff every day. It’s a dusty place because of the materials, and my hands are usually grey by lunchtime. Marwar Steels is mostly just piles of rods and sheets that we move around for builders or local guys doing repairs. The street outside is narrow so getting trucks in is always a bit of a headache, but we make it work. Most days it’s just me and a couple of others keeping track of what goes out. People come in looking for specific sizes, and we spend a lot of time measuring things twice. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a clicking noise all day, and we usually have the radio playing low in the back. Sometimes the neighbors from the other shops pop in to talk about the market or just to get away from their own counters for a minute. It isn’t a fancy office with chairs for sitting around. It’s more of a place where things get loaded and unloaded. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The walls could use some fresh paint, but there’s never really a quiet time to get it done. We just keep moving the steel and making sure the counts are right at the end of the day before locking up the heavy doors for the night.
