Mahendra Idali Dosa

We start early here at College Road Vidhya Nagar 19. Most mornings, the steam is already rising from the idli pots before the students start showing up for their classes. It’s a small place, nothing fancy at all. Mahendra Idali Dosa has been around for a bit now, and we just keep doing what we know. The batter takes time to get right, especially when the weather changes, but that's just part of the daily work. People stop by on their way to work or when they have a break between lectures. We don't have a big menu. Just the usual stuff like idlis and crispy dosas. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded and folks have to wait a few minutes, but nobody seems to mind much. We use the same sambar recipe we've had since the start. It’s not about being the biggest shop on the street. It’s more about making sure the chutney is fresh every single day. The grinders are usually running by five in the morning. We clean up the tables ourselves and keep things moving. You’ll find us right there at number 19. If you are walking down College Road, you can usually smell the tempering of the mustard seeds and curry leaves from a distance. It’s just us working hard to serve the local crowd. We don't do fancy ads. People just know where we are. That’s how it works in this neighborhood.
