About Mahalaxmi Steel Center – Metals & Minerals in Pali
If you go down Somnath Temple Road towards number 40, you will hear us before you see us. Steel makes a lot of noise when you are moving pots and pans around. We have stacks of plates and tiffins almost reaching the ceiling in some spots. It is a bit of a maze inside the shop. People coming from the temple often stop by to look at stuff for their kitchens or to buy a gift. We don't have a big staff, just us family members helping out and moving the heavy crates. The metal stays cool to the touch even when it is hot outside. We spend a lot of time polishing the front items so they don't look dull from the dust. Sometimes a customer wants a specific size of a cooking pot and we have to dig through the back piles to find it under the other boxes. It is physical work, and my back usually aches by the time we lock up. The floor is concrete and a bit uneven in places, but it’s sturdy. We have been here for a good while, so the neighbors all know us. There isn't any fancy lighting or decorations here. The steel speaks for itself when it catches the sunlight coming through the door. It’s just a plain shop where we sell things people actually use every day to cook their meals and eat their dinner with their families.
