About Mahalaxmi Chaat Corner – Food & Beverages in Pali
My father started this small chaat spot right near Somnath Temple on Raghunath Marg a long time ago. We are at number 7, which is basically just a corner where people gather after they finish their prayers at the temple. It is usually quite busy in the evenings when the sun starts going down. We spend most of our mornings just boiling potatoes and peeling them while the street is still quiet. My hands usually smell like coriander and spices by noon. We don't have any fancy seating or anything like that. People just stand around the counter or lean against the wall to eat their plates. Sometimes the wind blows the napkins around and we have to go chasing them down the street. It is a simple life here. We use the same spice mix we have used for years because that is what people seem to like. The tamarind chutney takes a few hours to get right every single day. We try to keep the area clean, but with so many people coming through it can get a bit messy during the rush. We just keep a big bin outside and hope people use it. Most of the regulars know us by name now. It is just a basic place where you get your food and move on. We open up early and stay until the snacks run out, which usually happens around eight or nine at night.
