Khetlaji Kirana Provision

Our grocery shop is right in the middle of Rani Pratap Bazar. It’s a typical kirana store where we keep a bit of everything. Sacks of rice and flour sit on the floor, and the shelves are packed with dals, spices, and soaps. It’s always a bit of a squeeze to get around. We know most of the families who shop here. They bring their lists, and we spend time picking out the items and weighing them on the scale. Sometimes we run out of sugar or a specific brand of oil, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow once the new stock arrives. It’s a long day, starting early to get the fresh goods in and closing late once the last person finishes their dinner shopping. The floor gets a bit dusty from all the foot traffic in the bazar. We don’t have a computer system or anything, just a notebook where we keep track of things. It’s how we’ve always done it. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. People just know we are here. It’s a lot of lifting heavy bags and counting change. We just focus on getting people what they need for their kitchens every day. It is a humble place but we like the work and the people.
