Maharaja Shree Umaid Mills Ltd is out on Jodhpur Road. It’s a big site, and you can’t really miss it if you’re driving that way. The place has been around for quite a long time, and you can tell by looking at some of the older parts of the structures. It’s an industrial vibe through and through. There is always something going on, whether it's the shift changes or trucks moving supplies around the yard. It can get pretty loud when all the machinery is running at full speed. The air smells a certain way, like heavy work and dust. We have a lot of people coming in for work every single day, mostly locals from the surrounding areas. The office part is separate but still feels connected to the whole mill atmosphere. It’s not quiet, that’s for sure. We don’t have much in the way of fancy lobbies or plush chairs; it’s all very functional and meant for work. Jodhpur Road stays busy with travelers and transport, so there’s always movement outside the gates. We keep the gates open during the day for the workers and the deliveries. It’s a massive operation to keep track of, and everyone has their specific job to do. We just focus on keeping the production going. It’s just a hardworking mill on a long stretch of road, doing what it’s always done for years without much change to the daily grind.
