Jai Nagnechi Mata Saree

We've been here on Subhash Marg for a good while now. The shop is right on Sojat Road, which stays pretty busy most of the day with people coming and going. It’s not a huge place, but we manage to keep a lot of sarees tucked away in the shelves and cupboards. Most mornings start with dusting everything off and making sure the floor is swept because the road gets quite dusty. We don’t really do fancy things here. It is just a shop where you come in, sit down on the floor cushions, and look at whatever we have in stock at the time. Sometimes we have a lot of cotton, other times it is mostly synthetics. People from around the neighborhood stop by, sometimes just to chat or ask about the weather while they look. My nephew helps out when he isn't busy with his own things. We try to keep the lights bright enough so people can see the colors properly, though the old bulbs act up sometimes. It’s just how it goes in a place like this. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down and the street gets a bit quieter. There’s always work to do, like folding back all the pieces that people wanted to see but didn’t end up taking home. It gets tiring but it is what we do every day. Nothing too complicated about it.
