Jai Ambe Genral Store

I've been running Jai Ambe Genral Store here in Ranakpur for a good while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too high. I open up the shutters and sweep the front because the dust settles overnight. It’s a small place but we keep a bit of everything on the shelves. You’ll find things like soap, biscuits, tea leaves, and matchboxes. People from the nearby houses come by for their daily needs. Sometimes tourists visiting the temples stop in because they need water or a quick snack. It gets quite busy in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. I try to keep everything stocked up, but sometimes the delivery truck comes late and we run out of a few items for a day or two. That’s just how it goes here. My nephew helps me out when he isn't at school. We have a small wooden counter where I sit most of the day. The fan makes a bit of noise but it helps with the heat. Ranakpur is a quiet place mostly, and I like chatting with the regulars who have been coming here since I first opened the doors. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just a simple shop where you can get what you need for your kitchen or your house without much fuss. I know where every single item is kept even if it looks a bit crowded to someone else.
