We are located right in Sadri, just a normal kirana store where we keep all the daily needs. You’ll find sacks of rice and different kinds of dals piled up near the entrance because there isn't much space inside for everything. Every morning starts early, around six or seven, when the milk arrives and people come by for their daily groceries. I spend a lot of time weighing out sugar or packing spices into small plastic bags. It gets a bit crowded in the narrow aisle when two people try to pass each other, but everyone is used to it. The shelves are packed with soap, oil, and biscuits, sometimes it's hard to find where I put the smaller items. My son helps out after school sometimes, mostly just moving the heavier bags around. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, so the overhead fan runs all day making a clicking sound that I’ve stopped noticing. We don’t have a fancy computer system or anything, just a thick notebook where I write down what people owe or what I need to order for next week. People from the neighborhood stop in not just for salt or flour, but sometimes just to say hello or complain about the heat. It’s a simple life running the shop and we’ve been doing it for a long time now. I usually close for an hour in the afternoon to have lunch and then open back up until late night.
